Samsung Side by side Fridge SR538NP

SRS538NP fridgeLast weekend, I went to several big electronic shops such as myer, harvey norman, and bing lee to have a look at some fridge / refrigerator. I find out that they actually can give you as low as $300 price less then the retail price. So i recommend you to always ask for discount, because they do give discount most of the time if you ask, and especially if you pay by cash. For example, i was looking at the LG side by side refrigerator, i cant really remember what exactly is the model, but it looks very cool with stainless steel body. The Myer sales staff approach me while i was standing there in front of this cool LG fridge, then i ask him if there is any special price he can give me. The retail price is around $1800, and he said he can give me around $1500 plus delivery fee around $60. You see now what i mean by always ask if they can give you special price, because if you never ask, you will never know if you can save a couple thousands just by asking simple question.

Unfortunately, the LG side by side fridge is too big to fit in my new place, so i have to find other models which is smaller. The only manufacture which have around 85mm width is Samsung. This remind me to the book i read last year “blue ocean strategy” about adding a unique feature to your product to get rid the competition. And its exactly what Samsung do in this case. Because no other manufacture are playing in this 85mm width side by side fridge then that means No competition at all there. I’m pretty sure, Samsung sell  quite  a lot of this SRS538NP samsung fridge. Very smart idea indeed.

OK, back again to the samsung SRS538NP refrigerator, the retail price is au$1899, and after doing some research on internet, i find out actually there is one online shop selling appliances stuff cheaper compared to myer, harvey norman, or even bing lee. I have compared around 5 stuffs which i quote from the shop, and all the price at www.appliancesonline.com.au is still cheaper. Appliancesonline.com.au also offer free delivery if you live in NSW. the SRS 538NP Samsung fridge is sell for $1583 at appliancesonline, and as fas as i know, is the cheapest  price. I might order from the very soon, to try how is their service, and will post it again here once i get the fridge from them.

its funny you say that because i bought an appliance from those guys you speak about ( www.appliancesonline.com.au ) late last year and was too the cheapest price i found anywhere. I think these days the big retailers are getting undercut by the online retailers because they cant do it so cheap.

the thing is online retailer dont have to pay expensive rental for the shop, and this will always give them the power to offer cheaper price. Btw, terry, what stuff you got from them?

Thanks for the info…I was actually searching the net for reviews on this particular model. Rather funny too is that I was also standing in front of a shiny LG when I was told that the only side by side that fit my measurement requirements was the Samsung.

I’m a bit backwards though LOL, I purchased it (getting it delivered tomorrow) and then look for reviews ha ha.

Purchase price: $1430 (delivery included) from The Good Guys @ Casula NSW….my trick is to ask for best price and then say I can really only afford XXX amount ($50 less then their best price)…I usually always get the goods.

thats very good price stilluneek. I finally bought it from binglee for $1560, a little bit cheaper than appliancesonline price. Damn, If you tell me before you got it for $1430, i can save $130 :)

the LG actually looks better, but samsung not too bad either, it just not as shiny as stainless steel. I got it for about 1.5 mths already now, and no complain so far :)

good guys have advertised the samsung for $1498 and it comes with a FREE 22′LCD TV. Apparently the TV is worth 500 bucks. I will go a check it out this weekend.

I also have a similar problem with the width. We built the new place a year ago but at that time I was not expecting to buy a new fridge. So the we let the kitchen guy decide on the width.
Now its really hard to find a fridge that will fit the existing hole. It 860 wide and 1790 tall. I hope sumsung will fit, it is 855.

wow, thats even cheaper.Great bargain with free 22″ LCd TV some more. Btw serg, dont forget that fridge usually need some extra space on each side, probably 5cm - 10cm on each side is better.
