Sydney morning herald newspaper Online edition
This morning, i woke up as usual around 8am. After making a glass of coffee, i sit down on my desk, turn on my computer and then i open the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper website. On the top the site, there is one link saying something like “Click here to view the full print edition of The Sydney Morning Herald”. Is it me who just knew that they already have online version right now? or is it a new feature? Because i was curious, i try to click on the link to see how good and easy it is the new feature of this online version. They called this feature as Sydney Morning Herald Smart edition.

Here is a little description of this product quoted from their website:
“A digital facsimile edition is a complete replica of the newspaper delivered to you on-screen so you can read it wherever and whenever you choose. It brings you all of our editorial and advertising content and our entertaining and informative supplements. You can read it online using a standard web browser, or download a small reader application to let you store the newspaper and read it later.”
HOW DOES Sydney Morning Herald Online edition WORK?
These editions use sophisticated tools to let you navigate through the paper quickly and easily. Search any word. Use the live table of contents to browse through short abstracts, share stories with friends, print them out or archive for future reference. Extra value features include web links within adverts, automatic story translation into 11 languages and RSS feeds.
I will try to give a bit review after trying the online version of Sydney Morning Herald newspaper:
- I like the feature where you can point to specific block of story then it will zoom only that block once you click it. It will reduce a lot of downloading time instead of viewing the whole page.
- There is also one cool feature, you can listen to the story. There is a speaker icon where you can click on specific block, then you can listen the story from the speaker. Wow, that’s cool. I’m not really sure how they do it though, but I’m doubt if they use text recognition software which will automatically convert the text to speech in this case, because when i try to listen to one story, it sounds like they have someone read the story and record it manually.
- Its quite easy to navigate from one page to other page, or you can jump to specific section easily. You can also search for specific keyword easily.
- On my adsl internet connection, there is still some waiting time till you can view the whole page especially when you zoom on some big block of image, so it might takes longer for you to read the newspaper compare to normal edition of smh newspaper
Actually i would like to give a try of their translation feature, but i cant find a way to translate the page. so i cant give any comment on this. One more thing is, this online feature is not free. I cant find the subscription price though , it might be they haven’t published it yet.
Overall , Its a good alternative to the normal edition of smh newspaper, but i would say its not for everyone. Because i still think that reading offline from the traditional newspaper is more convenience.

So far my knowledge about swift-code for a bank is the same. SWIFT Code for a bank in Indonesia only one ( it’s doesn’t matter for BCA Bank Papua or Kalimantan Tengah or Jakarta are the same)But BCA Bank SWIFT code in Singapore or Malaysia in this case would be different. Correct me if I am wrong guys!!
