Surabaya.com sold for us$50000
I just read one news about selling and buying domain name business, and i’m quite surprise when i saw that surabaya.com was sold for us$50000. Surabaya is the name of city in east Java, Indonesia. And its the city where i grow up before i move to sydney , australia. I have no idea who is the owner and who bought it for that price, and what they gonna do with the domain name. I tried to search in google, but cant find more detail information there. the reason why this domain can be sold for us$5000 is maybe because this word “surabaya” means something else in other language, because i’m doubt if the buyer is indonesian, because us$50000 is pretty big money if you convert it to rupiah(indonesian money currency). Anyone got more detail about this?
TPG or WestNet for my ADSL2+ connection?
A couple days ago i called my ADSL Provider, Westnet customer support, to let them know that i would like to disconnect my adsl connection. Because by next month i will move out already to my new place. The price I pay at the moment for the ADSL is around $54.95/mth under Everyday Plan (512k/128k - 5GB peak /7GB offpeak), and i just checked my usage in average is less than 3GB/month. Not as much as i predict because i don’t really download movie or song from internet. Maybe i should find cheaper plan with lower bandwidth so i can save a bit money there. The thing i want to mention here is actually, i’ve been with westnet for 3 years, and i’m very satisfied with their service. the only downside is the price is a bit more expensive compared to the others, and also i notice one thing after i called them to arrange the disconnection of my ADSL by next month, i feel that my internet connection has been slowed down. I’m not sure 100%, but yesterday i tested to download 15mb file, and it took 5 minutes.
Once i move to new place, for sure i will sign up for the ADSL2+, not the ADSL anymore because the price is actually pretty much the same, but offering faster connection. I’m actually thinking about sign up with TPG ADSL2+ Medium/25GB plan, with download quaota of 25GB* (18GB peak+7GB offpeak), only cost $49.99/mth, it give me much more download quota compared to westnet $49.94/mth, only give 5gb peak/7gb offpeak. But i’m not really sure about the quality of TPG though. If any of you are using TPG, please give me a bit feedback here or is there any better suggestion for ADSL2+ provider?
Pligg sites up for sale
Pligg, one of my favorite open source CMS for building Digg clone website is up for sale on sedo. The reason of the sale is because pligg has grown very fast and well beyond the developer expectations, and it is getting difficult for the developers to manage the business side of Pligg on a daily basis without slowing down development. Which consists mainly of advertising, support, and community management. Pligg owner believe that by allowing more seasoned professionals take over the day to day management of Pligg, it will allow Pligg to flourish into realm’s that they never thought possible. As far as i know, Pligg content management system is quite popular because it give the ability for user to create digg clone website. And i’ve seen many developer selling pligg custom templates and modules recently, so it proves that there quite a lot of pligg user in the market. I also have one website which is using pligg engine, its an Australian Bargain website. I would say pligg is one the best CMS to make website like digg, but the loading time is a bit slow in my opinion.
Just for fun, I actually just tried to bid on sedo to find out how much pligg site is up for sale. The minimum so far is us$25,000, So if you got us$25,000 and interested in buying the pligg site, be quick to bid on sedo website before it sold out.
1064 Error in Oscommerce Shopping Cart
I just tried to install oscommerce Shopping Cart, and has been playing around with some cool template. But since yesterday i found some error which is looks like a common error which is cause by mysql version.
This is the error message i got when i tried to click on reviews section in admin page:
1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘-20, 20′ at line 1
select reviews_id, products_id, date_added, last_modified, reviews_rating from reviews order by date_added DESC limit -20, 20
This error also occur in the special.php page inside admin section. After search on google, finally i found a way to fix it: Here is how to fix this problem:
Find split_page_results.php page inside the admin/includes/classes folder. Open the file then just under this code:
$offset = ($max_rows_per_page * ($current_page_number - 1));
Add this code:
if ($offset < 0)
{
$offset = 0 ;
}
By adding above code , now i able to view the reviews and special page in admin section.
Ebay Remove Revise Item Duration
I was going to extend the expiry date of one of the item i sell on ebay, and then i realize i cant do it anymore now. Apparently Ebay has applied new rule regarding this matter.
Here’s what it said in ebay announcements:
Back in January, our Trust & Safety policy team made an important change that prohibits the practice of extending the duration of an auction. These auction extensions disrupt normal bidding patterns, creating a poor buyer experience. Some sellers were also using this ability to gain an advantage for their listings in terms of exposure on the site. The option to extend your listing duration in our listing tools has now been modified to be in compliance with this policy change.
Two-Hour Window to revise item durationSellers will notice that the ability to change their listing’s duration has been removed from the Sell Your Item form, Turbo Lister, and any third-party tools which utilise our API once 2 hours have passed after the start time of the listing. We wanted to be sure to make a 2-hour window available so that sellers will still have the opportunity to correct their listing if they discover they have listed it with the wrong duration.
So for you guys who used to take advantage of the extending expiry date feature on ebay, now you only have 2 hrs to do it once you post the item.
