Sydney morning herald newspaper Online edition
This morning, i woke up as usual around 8am. After making a glass of coffee, i sit down on my desk, turn on my computer and then i open the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper website. On the top the site, there is one link saying something like “Click here to view the full print edition of The Sydney Morning Herald”. Is it me who just knew that they already have online version right now? or is it a new feature? Because i was curious, i try to click on the link to see how good and easy it is the new feature of this online version. They called this feature as Sydney Morning Herald Smart edition.

Mybloglog widget
Actually i have known mybloglog for quite a long time already, but i just dont have time to try it by myself in my blog. So today i spent a couple hours to explore more about its feature. Because my blog is using wordpress 2.03 so i just follow the instruction given in mybloglog site :
- Install the Sidebar Widgets plugin from Automattic. Skip this step if you already have it installed.
- Download the MyBlogLog widget file: mybloglog_wp_2.zip. Unzip its content into your WP plugins/widgets directory, located at
/wp-content/plugins/widgets . - Login to your WP admin, click on the “Plugins” tab, look through the list of installed plugins to find the one called “MyBlogLog”, and then click on “Activate” to activate the plugin.
- Finally, click on “Presentation” tab, then “Sidebar Widgets” subtab. You will see MyBlogLog from the “Available Widgets” list. Drag and drop it to your template sidebar, click on the widget setting and follow the instructions on there to set it up.
But because i’m using other template so i need to edit the template by myself and put the code in my own template. So if you are not really familiar with html, it might be not too easy for you to add this widget. My suggestion to mybloglog developer if they want this widget used by a lot of blogger then they might think about a way to make the installation easier.
Its kind of fun honestly to play around with this mybloglog widget, because make you curious about who is visiting your blog. One big advantage for sure it will bring more traffic to your site because when you visit other people blog which got mybloglog as well, you will leave a link to your site. Only one downside you have to think about it is about your web site loading speed will be slower because have to connect to mybloglog server to retrieve the data. As you can see on the left side of my blog, i will leave this mybloglog there for a while to see if its really useful for me or not.

Vodka.com sold for us$3m
I just read a new that saying the domain name www.Vodka.com has been acquired by Conglomerate Russian Standard Co., controlled by Roustam Tariko. Roustam Tariko, Russian entrepreneur behind Russia’s biggest vodka maker has paid $US 3 million (around Aus$3.8million ) to buy the vodka.com domain name. The transactions is done using the service of domain name broker sedo.com. This price might be one of the the highest price ever paid for acquiring a domain name. Can you imagine if someone want to buy your domain name for Aus$3.8 million? Even for Aus $1million i would say deal straight away , without thinking too much. I know some people buy a heaps of domain name and they hope one day someone will try to buy from them with good price. Some of them can earn money, but some of them finally have to stop registering the domain name because keep loosing money. It just about luck and how good you are in choosing and predict which domain name will become famous one day.
As i know, Here are some other domain name sold for extremely high price:
- www.diamond.com sold for $US7.5 million
- Business.com sold for $US7.5 million in 1999
- Sex.com sold for around $US12 million
Oh yea, one thing that really amazed me is the logo of the company/products. Very nice logo! And For you guys who own a lot of domain names, keep praying…maybe one day will offer you $1 million… hahaha….
